What we do at Dooshai Save Benue Youth Foundation

Dooshai Save Benue Youth Foundationn[DOSYF] is a non-governmental organization, charitable, not for profit making founded and registered with Corporate Affairs Commission and the Benue state government (Ministry of Youth and sports, Ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management and Benue state planning commission). Due to crisis, Economic burdens and HIV/AIDs epidemic in the country (Nigeria) the citizenry especially the women, youth and the children are facing a lot of hardship, inadequate means to fulfill the basic needs of life which is food, clothing, shelter, protection, education, health care and psychosocial support among others.

As a result of this, Dooshai Save Benue Youth Foundation [DOSYF] with a vision to see a developed and peaceful society to initiate and implement projects and programs that will reduce the suffering of mankind and bring peace and development to the society. Also create an enabling environment for youth, women and children especially the vulnerable groups and to deliver quality services to the above mentioned through the mechanisms of commitment and dedication to duty.

OBJECTIVES


  • To network and collaborate with NGOs, international organization and government agencies
  • Provide economic strengthening programs that brings youth empowerment
  • To establish skill acquisition centers’ in the communities to train and empower vulnerable women, persons with disability, youth and children to be self-reliance.
  • Making child protection a priority.
  • Create awareness on health problems in the communities and build capacity of women, persons with disability, youth and children on how to prevent and control the problems
  • Increase access to educational support for the youth and children.
  • To embark on youth friendly initiative programs to reduce societal vices
  • To enhance community-based education on STIs/HIV and AIDS prevention
  • To ensure access to clean water and improve environmental sanitation and hygiene through community oriented projects
  • To embark on advocacy, research and public education on varied issues relating to youth empowerment.
  • To optimize the utilization of local structures, experts and resources to elicit participation of youth in the agricultural sector to improve on their living conditions and the economy in line sustainable development in Nigeria
  • To collaborate with experts in the area of research and documentation in the field of youth empowerment as its affects and relates to youth and communities Nigeria
  • To empower and strengthen the capacity and capability of members and other similar institutions in Nigeria to tackle issues of child marriage, prostitution, thuggery, cultism, drug abuse and other social vices

THERMATIC AREAS


  • Health (malaria HIV/AIDs Prevention and control, community awareness creation, safe motherhood, clean environmental attitude)
  • Economic Empowerment & Education Support women’s access to quality education, vocational training, and digital literacy. Create opportunities for entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and fair employment and address barriers such as unequal pay, lack of childcar, and limited access to credit.
  • Child protection (preventing and protecting children from all forms of abuse and exploitation and create child protection referrals)
  • Nutrition (provision of nutritional supplements, food security and nutrition education)
  • Livelihood and Empowerment of vulnerable populations (particularly, Persons with disability) in Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

  • Agricultural innovation and climate change. (Youth capacity building and support to enhance climate smart agriculture across different communities in Nigeria)
